Well in October '08 we choose Bavaria(southern Germany) as our destination and found it beautiful indeed. Once again my rudimentary German came in handy. We also took a couple short trips into Austria since we found that country so pretty last year.
We stayed in Hohenlinden just east of Munich and did road trips with a rental car. Driving in Germany is not as hard as driving in Ireland since they drive on the right side of the road. You still need to pay attention and do your homework on some of the driving rules but it all went OK.
Below is a typical small town south of Munich as you approach the Alps. Lovely.

Below is west of Kuhstein, Austria. Had to pull over and and ge this shot. What a pretty valley. My favorite pic of the trip.

Well I made another friend below. Can't seem to stop that from happening. I see a dog, the dog sees me, we become friends. They know fellow dogs I suppose.:)

There I go again below. Minding my own business when a dog comes my way. Little guy was friendly.

Holly just loved all the houses with the flower arrangements like below. There are soo many in Germany too.

I think the pianted ones had more character. I guess you call them fresco's. I just think they are too cool. The one below was in a small town. I don't recall the name.

Holly's son-in-law works for Swarovski's so we took this pic. Their HQ is in Austria.

The flowered Hotel below was at Konigssee or "Kings Lake" just outside Berchtesgaden, Germany.
Holly thought it was particularly pretty.
Below is Holly with Neuschwanstein Castle in the background. Way cool.
